The Watford Home Kit 1980-81

Programme increases to 30p, style remains the same.

News We beat Southampton! This may not seem like a big deal, cup shocks happen. However we were 4-0 down from the first leg at the dell. They came to Vicarage Road and we beat them 7-1 after extra time. We even scored their goal via a Steve Sims own goal.
Southampton were 2nd in the top flight at the time and were a dam fine team.

Although anyone who is over 35 and supports Watford has claimed to have been there (attendance 105,000 and my mates Hamster) the actual attendance was 15,992. (Note the Two on the end of that were me and my Mum, me being 11 at the time.).

To prove it was no fluke we then stuffed Nottingham Forest 4-1 at home in a later round

In the league we finish 9th which was a record finish, during the season footballers arrived who would be the final pieces in the push for the top. Gerry Armstrong, Pat Rice and Les Taylor.

Off the pitch as the season ends Ron Rollitt goes (26 years service) as does former player Johnny Hartburn who worked as an Office Manager.
In comes Mike Sullivan and Caroline Giles (Office Manager and Marketing Manager respectively).

Watford become barrow boys, Opening a market stall in Charter Place, so as well as getting 2 pound of sprouts and a Hoover attachment you could get the latest in club apparel.

A fixed shop was also opened in the vicarage road parade of shops down by the Girls Grammar School. (no coincidence honest).

In the League we finish 9th out of 22 of Division 2.

We Scored 50 Goals and conceded 45.
